What's the sesh in Kerry?

Kerry's session scene runs from Dingle (Gaeltacht, serious musicians, John Benny's six-nights-a-week setup) to Tralee (Seán Óg's nightly) to Kenmare — and there's barely a village on the Ring of Kerry without a pub that does something on a Friday.

Kerry is one of Ireland's most musically active counties — partly because of tourism money to support pub sessions, but mostly because the county has a genuine session culture that predates the visitors. Dingle's Gaeltacht heritage means the musicians who play there grew up in Irish, and the music reflects it.
